An 8-year-old boy was killed Friday night in Medford in an accident involving a grain truck.
Signs of the community's strong farming roots are everywhere you look. A painful reminder of the accident that took the life of the young boy.
“The town needs prayers,” said Father Carl Janocha with St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The family are members of Father Janocha’s parish. He says this is a close-knit community, where nearly everyone is related and Friday's tragic accident has sent the whole town into mourning. He and other church members spent part of the day at the school counseling students.
“I was speaking with some of the ministerial alliance members also, and they said their Sunday services were also very overshadowed by the horrific accident that took this little boy’s life,” said Father Janocha.
The Grant County sheriff says they are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. But people in Medford say answers aren't the most important thing right now.
“We’re asking for your prayers, pray for St. Mary’s, The family of this poor child, and the town of Medford,” said Father Janocha.
The school superintendent says in addition to members of the Ministerial Alliance, they also had counselors at the school Tuesday.
