A man is locked up in the Cleveland County Jail after investigators said he was caught with drugs, a scale, rolls of cash, and a handgun.
Newly released body camera footage shows the arrest of Joshua Lewis Cloud moments after he barricaded himself inside an apartment on the city’s northwest side.
Officers say they first stopped Cloud and another man, identified as Demarco White, for suspicious behavior near Northwest 28th Street on September 11.
The officer asked dispatch to run both men through the city database.
The encounter was caught on the officer’s body worn camera.
Officer: Y’all know if you live over here, you know we get some trouble over here.
Dispatcher: Demarco appears to be a gang member of the neighborhood 90 crips.
Officer: Still claim the neighborhood 90’s
Demarco: No.
Officer: No?
Demarco: Gave it up. I had to. I got kids.
Investigators said they found two pills on White, and a large amount of cash in Cloud’s pocket.
Police put White in the back of a cop car, and soon after Cloud was seen running into an apartment.
Officers called for back-up.
Officer: There is a gun right there.
Officer: Get him! Get him! Get him!
Nearby Woman: Hey!
Officer: Get in there!
Officer: Josh come out or we are going to kick the door. There you go. Let me see your hands! Get on the ground now!”
Police said Cloud no longer had the cash on him when he was arrested. The body cam footage shows that officers searched Cloud’s vehicle, as well as the apartment he ran into.
Officers measured out what appeared to be meth on the trunk of the car, and later found $5,000 stashed under a pillow inside of the unit.
Police said Cloud was already a convicted felon, and that he remains in the Cleveland County Jail.
