The Yukon Police Department confirms that a body has been found in Yukon.
Officials said an adult male was found deceased off of Interstate 40 near Frisco Road.
Officers responded to the scene around 11 a.m. Wednesday, after a surveyor, who was working in the area, found the body.
Information is limited as Yukon police try to identify the body. But officials told News 9 that at this time, they do not believe there was foul play.
“We do think that within the last 24 to 36 hours the subject came deceased in this area,” said Major John Brown with the Yukon Police Department.
According to authorities, there are no observable signs of trauma.
Yukon PD says the body appears to be a Native American male, approximately 40 to 50 years of age.
No abandoned vehicles were near the area, and investigators believe the man may have been walking along the interstate.
“Right now, we're leaning toward, maybe a medical issue happened. But we had the ME's office come out and take custody of the body. And they'll do a final investigation to determine cause of death,” Major Brown said.
Yukon police will continue to work to identity of the man. Authorities say they will go through any baggage or evidence found at the scene to try and notify family.
