It will be warm and windy on Monday! Highs will be 20 degrees above average soaring into the 60s and 70s.
Winds will ramp up though, and could gust 40 to 45 mph at times. There will be a high fire danger on Monday, especially in the northwest.
Wildfires are possible due to the lack of rainfall, low humidity, and strong winds. Please be careful.
Cold air spills in Monday night and lows fall into the 30s. It will be chilly the next few days and we ring in the new year with highs in the 40s.
We are closely watching an arctic outbreak this weekend. The cold front arrives in Oklahoma on Sunday.
We are still too far out to talk about exactly how long we will remain below freezing. Some data keeps us below 32 degrees for 4 to 5 days. Other data is not quite as cold. Stay tuned.
Of course, when arctic air is around, winter precip becomes possible. There is a chance Sunday into Monday for a winter storm in the Plains.
Right now the snow impacts are mainly in states north of Oklahoma. The exact track of the low will be key.
A shift to the south could bring some snow into northern Oklahoma.
We will keep you updated throughout the week.
