We are tracking our next strong cold front! This next one will likely be the strongest one of the summer so far.
It will bring a true fall feel. Some data has highs that are more October-like than late August. Rain and storm chances increase as the two air masses collide next week.
What will the weather be like on Thursday?
A few early morning showers look possible north and west of the metro, but the heat will return this afternoon.
For most of the state, highs will remain in the 90s and low hundreds. Some parts will max out in the high 80s.
It will be hottest in southwest Oklahoma, where temperatures and heat indexes are expected to climb to dangerous levels.
There is a slight chance of rain on Thursday afternoon and evening.
What will the weather be like for the rest of the week?
Hotter summer conditions return Friday afternoon.
There is a chance for rain on Friday, mostly in the panhandle and northwest part of the state.
Unfortunately, the relief doesn't make it into the southwest. The drought and extreme heat will ramp up the wildfire risk.
The dangerous heat will build back in briefly for the weekend.
