TULSA, OK -- Police are investigating an apparent homicide after a homeless man was found dead in a Tulsa garage.

After responding to a different call shortly before noon Sunday near 200 S. Victor Ave., firefighters went to check on a transient living in the area.

Karl Chilcoat, 52, was found dead inside the vacant detached garage where he had been living.

Investigators believe Chilcoat died as a result of head trauma, Tulsa Police Sgt. Stephen Boyes said. It appeared he had been killed sometime Sunday morning and placed in the garage.

Police are searching for 29-year-old Mark Ray Robertson as a person of interest in the case. Robertson is described as white, 5 feet 6 inches, about 150 pounds with very short brown hair.

Robertson has cuts on his face from a fight earlier in the week. He is homeless and frequents the area of Third Street and Lewis to Utica avenues.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.

The death is being investigated as the 29th homicide in Tulsa this year.
