Federal Prosecutor Announces His Resignation

TULSA, OK -- U.S. Attorney David O'Meilia tenders his resignation.  He announced on Thursday afternoon that he will leave his post effective at midnight June 28^th, 2009.

O'Meilia became the acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma on October 5^th, 2001, after he was nominated by President George W. Bush.  Following a confirmation hearing in the U.S. Senate, he was appointed to the post on December 5^th, 2001.

O'Meilia is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa's School of Law.  He intends to return to private practice with a Tulsa law firm.
