UNDATED -- The dream to launch an Oklahoma space tourism industry is dead.

The News On 6 has learned Rocketplane, its subsidiaries and its owner all filed for bankruptcy.

"We didn't leave a nickel on the table. "We did what we said we could do," Owner George French Junior told the Oklahoma Gazette. "Unfortunately, we did not complete the program as originally conceived."

Rocketplane accepted $18 million in Oklahoma taxpayer money to help get their western Oklahoma space-port off the ground.

The company still owes a host of Oklahoma entities money, but because French and his companies filed bankruptcy, he'll only have to pay his tax debt.
