The Norman Police Chief has announced he's retiring after 37 years with the department.

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The Norman Police Chief has announced he's retiring after 37 years with the department.

Chief Phil Cotten became a Norman police officer in 1973. He was named chief in 1996.

Chief Cotten's 37 years of service is the longest tenure for a police officer and chief in the history of the department. His retirement date is tentatively set for April 28.
