Truck Carrying Ammonium Nitrate Spills Load Near Port Of Catoosa

Emergency crews are on the scene of a truck crash near the Port of Catoosa Friday morning.

PORT OF CATOOSA, Oklahoma -- Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a truck crash near the Port of Catoosa Friday morning. 

The truck loaded with ammonium nitrate, rolled onto its side after turning on state Highway 266 at the main entrance at the Port of Catoosa. 

Ammonium nitrate is used in explosives and fertilizer.  Officials say while it's safe by itself, but when mixed with other chemicals it can become dangerous.

Troopers say once the truck was righted.  The ammonium nitrate on the ground was cleaned up and the truck towed. 

The driver was not injured.
