OKLAHOMA CITY -- Surgeons at Mercy Hospital are getting some onsite training to use some new high-tech gadgets for laparoscopic surgeries.

Now when patients have their gall bladder, kidney, or appendix removed doctors will only have to make one incision through the belly button. Traditionally the surgeries required four incisions.

The fact that there's not much of a scar is just one of the benefits of the technology.

"They have less pain, quicker recovery, quicker return to function, being able to go back to work sooner," said Dr. Joseph Bundia, Mercy Health Center.

The procedure can also be used in gynecologic, bariatric and urologic surgeries.
