NORMAN, Oklahoma – News9 Sports Director Dean Blevins may not have been born in the Sooner state, but ever since his family moved here from Arkansas in 1963, Dean has called Norman home.
From his school days at Adams Elementary to lots of time spent in the gym and on the practice field at Norman High, Dean made some lifelong friends and memories in Norman.
In high school, Dean was the top football and basketball player in the state and it landed him quite the golf caddy when being recruited for college. In 1974, then head coach Barry Switzer caddied a round of golf for Dean while he was recruiting the young Blevins to play football at OU.
Next thing you know Dean was on the field for the Sooners and pursuing a journalism degree.
Dean says that of all the six cities he has lived in, hands down Norman is his favorite, the place he will always call home.
