EDMOND, Oklahoma – Oklahoma County prosecutors charged an Edmond man Wednesday with sexually assaulting two mentally and physically handicapped women at thrift stores.
According to court documents, 40-year-old Esteban Martinez assaulted a mentally and physically handicapped woman on June 1 at the Goodwill store at 48 E. 15th Street in Edmond. The victim told police Martinez touched her inappropriately and would not stop when she said no.
After Martinez left the store, the victim said she had seen him walking around the store several times before, and sometimes he had a baby with him. Police were able to pull surveillance video showing the man the victim described.
On June 23, Edmond police received another report in which a man sexually assaulted a mentally and physically handicapped woman at the Edmond Association for Retarded Citizens (EARC) in Edmond. The victim in this case identified the man as Martinez.
Police showed a picture of Martinez to the first victim, and she identified him as the man who assaulted her.
When police found Martinez at his house, he admitted to going to Goodwill several times a week, and sometimes bringing his baby with him.
Martinez was charged with four counts of crimes including sexual battery, and first-degree rape by instrumentation.
