OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper hailed earlier this year as a hero, has resigned amidst allegations of sexual misconduct according to the chief of the OHP.

Colonel Kerry Pettingill announced that Trooper Patrick Venable resigned June 29th after allegations of sexual misconduct were made by anonymous callers.

Pettingill said the OHP conducted an investigation and has turned its findings over to the Logan County district attorney.  He said the OHP would not reveal any further details of its investigation at this time.

Venable saved a road construction crew from a drunk driver who was barreling toward their construction site last January.  The trooper performed a TVI maneuver and diverted the speeding truck away from the construction workers before arresting the driver.
