Meet The New 2011-12 Thunder Girls

OKLAHOMA CITY – The field of more than 100 girls has been narrowed to 20 as Thursday the new members were selected for the 2011-12 Thunder Girls dance team.

More than 1,000 fans showed up for the team's final audition Thursday night.

"The energy tonight at Riverwind Casino tonight was amazing," said Thunder Girls manager and choreographer Paige Carter. "We had very talented candidates this year and it was a difficult selection process for us."

The audition process began five days earlier with more than 100 participants at the open audition that was narrowed to 40 contestants. Since then the candidate have continued through dance tryouts, interviews and practices leading up to Thursday's final competition.

Thursday's dance team hopefuls performed in pairs as well as individual freestyle during Thursday night's auditions.

When it came time for final selections, 12 veterans and eight new members were named the 2011-12 Thunder Girls.
