Eddie Sutton Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The National Association of Basketball Coaches inducted former Oklahoma State head coach Eddie Sutton into the College Basketball Hall of Fame Sunday.

Sutton played for Oklahoma State in 1950s – when it was known as Oklahoma A&M – and became an assistant coach with the Cowboys the year after his graduation. He went on to become the head coach for Creighton, Arkansas and Kentucky before returning to OSU in 1990.

Sutton coached the Cowboys for 16 years and had a record of 368-151 while with the team. He led OSU to the NCAA Tournament in 13 of his 16 seasons, including Final Four appearances in 1995 and 2004.

He was named the AP National Coach of the Year in 1978 and 1985, and became the first coach in college basketball history to lead four different programs to the NCAA Tournament. Sutton's 804 wins at Division I programs rank him eighth all-time.

Sutton was part of an eight-member class inducted into the Hall of Fame Sunday, which included former coaching rival Bob Knight.
