SEMINOLE, Oklahoma -- Seminole parents are outraged that school officials did not notify them after 42-year old Floyd Brown was accused and charged for lewd acts with a minor. They were upset because their kids rode his bus every day.

Brandi Haskin is celebrating Christmas but she says just a week ago her children were in danger. None of her neighbors were notified about the allegations against the bus driver until they saw it in the news.

"I can remember up until about Wednesday of last week, that bus driver was still driving that bus," said Haskins. "You can't trust anybody."

Floyd Brown was her kids' bus driver. He was arrested and charged with 12 felony counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 as well as a felony count of lewd or indecent proposals to a child under 16.

The Seminole School District released this statement Thursday:

"Floyd Brown has not had contact with our students as an employee of Seminole Public Schools since the District learned of the allegations, now charges, against him. When he was employed with the District, Mr. Brown did not have students in his care in unmonitored situations in the normal course of his duties as custodian and bus driver. It is our understanding that the investigation of Mr. Brown by local authorities pertains to a single victim at this time, the relationship with whom was not established at Seminole Public Schools."

Court documents showed the victim was not one of the students Brown had contact with. Even though the school took immediate action, Haskins said officials should have notified her of the allegations because her kids were on Brown's bus every day.

"I don't think that he should ever be in any contact with children," said Haskins. "I feel that if he's gonna do it once, you'll do it again."

While none of the kids on the bus were victims, Brandi wondered about what could have happened.

"That fear is always there, you know, of someone harming your kids," said Haskins.

School officials maintained Brown had no contact with students once they found out about the accusations against him. He was being held at the Seminole County Jail Thursday on $100,000 bond.
