Tahlequah Man One Of Several DUI Arrests New Year's Eve

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper says New Year's Eve was a busy time for law enforcement – and drivers under the influence of alcohol. Trooper Shiloh Hill arrested a Tahlequah man at about 4:30 a.m. on the Broken Arrow Expressway near Highway 169.

"He's definitely going to be DUI," Trooper Hill told The News On 6. "It's been a very busy but productive night. We've gotten a lot of drunks off the road, and we have not had any fatality crashes."

Hill spotted Sean Ryan Nordwall, 30, driving a Chevy Monte Carlo eastbound on the Broken Arrow Expressway in Tulsa. Nordwall was going 80 mph and weaving across the road, Hill said.

"I activated my lights, but the vehicle would not pull over," he said. "At one point, it went from the inside lane all the way to the shoulder and continued going."

Nordwall exited the BA at 145th East Avenue but then got back on the highway. He "finally gave up" near 169, the trooper said.

Nordwall was booked into Tulsa County Jail on complaints of attempting to elude police, driving under the influence, speeding, driving under suspension, failure to stay in proper lane, and driving without insurance verification.
