Oklahoma's Ryan Spangler has decided to leave the men's basketball team at Gonzaga to transfer closer to his home town of Blanchard.
According to the Associated Press, Spangler has been granted release and will seek a basketball program closer to home.
Washington's KREM 2 Sports and cites that Spangler's transfer papers were sent to five schools: Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, University of Tulsa, Kansas State and Arkansas.
That report also states that according to Spangler's father Oklahoma appears to be the front-runner at this point because of its proximity to his home town.
Spangler reportedly liked his time playing in Spokane, but still wants to move closer to home for the remainder of his college career..
This past season as a true freshman, Spangler saw action in 22 games averaging 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
