Woodward Officials To Host News Conference On Deadly Tornado

Woodward city officials will host a news conference Sunday afternoon concerning a deadly tornado that caused five fatalities and severe damage overnight.

The news conference will take place at around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Oklahoma City viewers can watch the news conference on News 9. News9.com is also planning on live streaming the conference.

Major damage to buildings and homes have been reported in Woodward. Officials have confirmed that the path of the tornado is about two miles long, and one-fifth to a quarter of a mile wide.

There are 20 confirmed injuries total, with 7 reported as critical.

OHP confirmed the five fatalities, two in the Tangier-Blacktop Area and three at the Hideaway Trailer Park. A trooper says the two from the trailer park are children. Their father was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
