TULSA, Oklahoma – Golden Hurricane sophomore basketball player Jordan Clarkson has asked for a release to transfer to another school.

Tulsa athletic director Ross Parmley confirmed the news and the university released an email about the request.

Parmley has granted Clarkson permission to contact a number of schools.

Clarkson, a 6-4 guard from San Antonio, just finished up his sophomore season with the Golden Hurricane and averaged 16.5 points per game and four rebounds.

The school did not release any information as to the reasons for Clarkson's request.

Tulsa recently fired coach Doug Wojcik and replaced him with former Kansas player and assistant Danny Manning, but it's unknown whether the release request has any relation to the coaching change.

News On 6 will update this story as more details become available.
