The area around the state capitol has made some beautiful improvements over the years. Did you know, we're paying for it?
The Capitol-Medical Center Improvement and Zoning Commission is responsible for 950 acres of the Capitol Complex, Health Center to the south and the neighborhoods surrounding the State Capitol.
Take a look at a map of the area improvements.
"Our architecture in the Health Center is wonderful," Programs Officer Denise Martin said. "We have improved the look of this Capitol complex in terms of landscaping. We have also put in monuments, to pay tribute to our Native Americans and our Native Oklahomans."
Working with a $95,844 annual budget, the Commission issues building permits, plan reviews for new projects and construction and works with neighborhoods for historic preservation.
