Hundreds of acres just east of Stillwater went up in flames Wednesday and threatened homes in the area.
It's the second grass fire crews have battled in Payne County this week.
Six area fire departments assisted in fighting the fire. A national guard helicopter was also called in to drop water on hotspots.
About 200 acres in Payne County were scorched according to the Stillwater Fire Department. Two abandoned trailers were destroyed in the blaze.
The fire nearly destroyed Dick Hoffman's home and the trees of his pecan farm. Hoffman and others in his neighborhood are grateful to the fire fighters who worked hard in the triple digit heat.
There were no injuries reported from Wednesday's grass fire.
