Several police agencies including the OSBI are looking for a man who police say tried to run over a Major County Sheriff's Deputy last Thursday.

Investigators say 29-year-old Edgar Borjas tried to kick in the front door of a farm house belonging to Matt Austin. A sheriff's deputy responded to a 911 call placed by Austin's girlfriend. That deputy arrested Borjas. But Borjas, who was handcuffed, still managed to steal the deputy's SUV, which investigators say Borjas tried to run down the deputy with.

The deputy managed to shoot Borjas twice as he drove away. Investigators say Borjas ended up wrecking the SUV after a police chase. Paramedics transported Borjas to OU Medical Center. But for some reason, Borjas was discharged from the hospital Sunday, and no one seems to know why.

An OU Medical Center spokesman says "the patient was discharged appropriately." Major County Sheriff Steve Randolph tells me it was "a miscommunication." Matt Austin can't believe it.

"I sure would like to know why he was released," he said. "Somebody should have been on their toes with a man like that."

OU Medical Center Spokesman Scott Coppenbarger told me Wednesday he would like to say more about how this happened, but he was bound by federal privacy laws.
