Tulsa's Mayor Announces Re-Election Bid

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett says he will announce he is running for a second term. Bartlett is expected to make the formal announcement Monday afternoon.

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett wants to keep his job.

He announced his re-election plans late this afternoon at the newly constructed American Bank and Trust company building at 61st and Yale.

Bartlett said Tulsa's added nearly 15,000 new jobs during his time in office and he said he'll keep the city going in the right direction.

Bartlett faces former Mayor Kathy Taylor and former Tulsa City Councilor Bill Christensen in a June 11 primary.

The top two vote-getters, regardless of party, will face each other in the November 12 general election.

With Bartlett's announcement, there will be three candidates seeking's Tulsa's top spot at city hall.

Christensen said his business experience coupled with his knowledge of Green Country make him the best option for mayor.

Former mayor Kathy Taylor announced earlier this month she wants her old office again; she was Mayor from 2006 to 2009. Her campaign kick-off is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, at OneOK Field.
