Schools in Guthrie were on lockdown as a precaution after a man broke into the home of a Logan County Sheriff's deputy and attacked him.

The deputy awoke Monday morning to find the man standing in his kitchen. The suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed a deputy in the arm. The deputy managed to shoot at the suspect as he was fleeing. The suspect was not hit, but he was found and taken into custody.

Guthrie Police recommended police put schools on lockdown as a precaution, but the lockdown was lifted after a couple of hours.

Police say the lockdown was unrelated to the lockdown at two Edmond schools.

The deputy is okay and expected to recover.
