Construction on a $3 million extension to Bricktown’s canal system is well underway.
Crews began work last December. They are extending the Oklahoma River Canal from the Chesapeake Boat House to the North 600 feet, to the southern end of the Bricktown Canal.
The extension will allow people to access Bricktown from as far away as the Meridian Landing, by boat.
“As the river develops, we expect apartments and commercial development along the river,” said City Engineer Jim Lewellyn. “People love being around the water.”
Lewellyn says the extension should be finished by July.
