Mid-America Christian University volleyball head coach Craig Ruiz has announced the signing of setter Hannah Luedtke for the upcoming 2013 season.

Luedtke, a native of Hamburg, Germany, comes to MACU after competing for a year at Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg, Fla.

She started playing volleyball at age 11 and played in high school for one season at South Central High School in Elizabeth, Ind. She also competed in basketball and tennis while at South Central HS.

Luedtke will stepping into the spot occupied by all-conference performer Calle Solie the last four seasons. Solie is the school's all-time record holder in career assists (3670) and digs (966), while also holding the single-season mark in assists (1170) and single-game assists (54) since MACU joined the NAIA.

"Trying to replace Calle was not something I was looking forward to but signing Hannah has made me very optimistic about our future," Ruiz said. "She is a true impact player who possesses many of those qualities you look for in a setter and I am very excited about this addition to our team!"

Luedtke is joining a Lady Evangel squad that posted their first winning record (18-16) since the program joined the NAIA and also advanced to the NCCAA Central Regional title game for the first time since 2009.
