A reservist with the United States Air Force is being honored at Tinker Air Force Base for his role in saving two people from burning wreckage, after their plane crashed right in front of him.
It happened last September. Sergeant Brent Castleberry was working on the runway at Spinks Airport in Fort Worth when a plane went down just 500 feet from where he was.
The Cessna 4-21 had just taken off on a cross country trip, so it had a full tank of gas. When it went down, a massive fireball followed.
"I can remember everything that happened, but then I reacted without actually having to think back and it was out of muscle memory if you will," Sgt. Castleberry said.
Sgt. Castleberry received an Act of Courage Award from the FAA.
