OU To Transfer George Nigh Rehab Center To Muscogee Nation

The University of Oklahoma will transfer ownership of the George Nigh Rehabilitation center over to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation at a signing ceremony scheduled for Monday, Aug. 12.

The University of Oklahoma will transfer ownership of the George Nigh Rehabilitation center over to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation at a signing ceremony scheduled for Monday, Aug. 12.

OU President David Boren and Muscogee Nation Principal Chief George Tiger will be on hand for the signing ceremony.

The sale of the facility will mark the first time either entity has had a transfer of ownership for a health facility.

Although the rehabilitation center is located in Okmulgee, Okla., the ceremony will take place at the OU Office of the President, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

The George Nigh Rehab. Center is a Medicare-certified physical rehabilitation hospital. In addition to rehabilitative services, the hospital provides nursing facility services as well as outpatient programs for both adults and children with disabling illness or injury.
