Edmond Police have arrested the grandmother and great aunt of a 4-year-old boy after he arrived at Cross Timbers Elementary School reeking of marijuana.
School administrators called police November 22 after other children in the boy's Pre-K program noticed something was wrong with him. They alerted the teachers, who then noted the child's eyes didn't look normal and the boy acted lethargic. His clothing also smelled of marijuana.
The school contacted the child's grandmother, 53-year-old Sandra Martinez, and great aunt, 52-year-old Peggy Pierman. When the two women came to pick up the child, police questioned them. The boy spent the previous night with Martinez. Both women admitted they smoked marijuana around the boy before dropping him off at his afternoon class.
Police arrested both women at the school. They were taken to the Edmond jail and booked on complaints of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police also contacted DHS. The child was released to his mother because police say she was not involved in the incident.
