A new health center will provide better services to thousands in Green Country.

The Cherokee Nation broke ground Friday on a new health center near Ochelata. The new Cooweescoowee Health Center will replace the Bartlesville Health Center.

The $9 million project will bring a range of new health services to Washington County - like radiology, dental, optometry, lab work and more.

"It'll be a new, 28,000 square-foot, modern, up to date clinic to serve this part of the Cherokee nation," said Principal Chief Bill John Baker Principal Chief.

This is the second facility to break ground as part of the tribe's $100 million expansion of health care facilities in the Cherokee nation.

Construction on the center will take a year.
