American Airlines Employees Favor The Tail Flag Design

After a company-wide vote with 60,148 votes cast, the airline announced Thursday, the majority are in favor of keeping the redesigned tail flag.

American Airlines employees have spoken and according the company, they like the new tail design unveiled a year ago.

After a company-wide vote with 60,148 votes cast, the airline announced Thursday, the majority are in favor of keeping the redesigned tail flag.

American CEO Doug Parker says the vote was close but he's pleased with what employees decided.

"Now that the votes are in, I'm really pleased to have a firm decision we can all embrace. This is the airplane we will fly as we restore American to the greatest airline in the world -- and that is exciting," said Parker in an email to employees.

31,355 said yes to the flag design and 29,063 employees favored the double-A logo. The difference was 2,292 votes.

American Airlines: Turbulent Times

Parker thanked employees for their decision.

"Thanks for taking the time to give us your input. This was a small but important step in bringing us together and beginning to move forward. Now let's get working together on the difficult task ahead -- restoring American to the greatest airline in the world," said Doug Parker.

American Airlines says in all 1,100 aircraft between the two airlines, US Air and American will be repainted with the flag design.
