Middle and high school students across Oklahoma spent two hours on their testing computers Tuesday morning.

The students are serving as computer monitors for the system they'll use for testing that actually matters. It's designed to prevent another testing disaster like the one that happened last year.

On Monday, teachers updated the software on those computers. Tuesday, students took a two-hour test to check out the software's capacity for the two testing vendors, CTB/McGraw Hill and Measuring Progress.

Officials said Tuesday's drill was to find problems with the system before the real tests are conducted.

After the test, the state and the testing vendors then will analyze the data and work with any Oklahoma school districts that need assistance.
