A man who police say was responsible for two killings was extradited back to Oklahoma after running away to Florida.

Police tell News 9 that Carrecus Davonte Hammond, 20, was picked up in December by authorities in Florida. Investigators believe Hammons is responsible for the murder of 24-year-old Justin Williams.

Oklahoma City Police found Williams dead at the scene of an accident in SW OKC on Sept. 24, 2013. At the time they said Williams had been shot at a nearby apartment complex and tried to drive away but crashed with a truck.

MSgt. Gary Knight with OKCPD said that investigators identified Hammond as a suspect quickly with the help of the public. They got a tip that he was on the run in Florida and issued a warrant.

"With any of the cases we work like that, it's all about information. It's not only evidence at the scene, but it's witness statements, it's statements by friends and family, people who know this person," explained Knight.

Hammond was previously convicted of murdering at 17 year old outside of a house party in 2007. Hammond was only 14 at the time. He was convicted, served time in the juvenile system and then released.

Knight explained that recidivism rates tend to be high. So it was not surprising that someone who was convicted of a crime did it again.
