Safety Inspections Made At Norman Schools Ahead Of Storm Season

Making sure students are as safe as possible in schools. That's the job of a group of experts in Norman. Engineers, meteorologists, architects and emergency managers are going school by school to find the safest place for shelter.

As we move into Spring, the threat of severe storms and tornadoes looms. In the aftermath of the May 20 tornado last year, Norman Schools developed a storm team to assess each of their buildings for safe places.

The next step is improving communication with parents to sort out when it is appropriate for parents to take kids out of school or leave them in place.
