An Army Drill Sergeant from Norman's 95th Reserve Training Division has been recognized as the elite of the elite.

Last week, Staff Sergeant Chris Croslin won the Army's annual “Drill Sergeant of the Year” competition at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Croslin graded out as number one among 2,200 Reserve Army Drill Sergeants from around the United States.

Croslin said he prepared for the four-day event by getting up at four in the morning before leaving for his job as a lineman for Oklahoma Electric Cooperative.

“I knew coming into this competition that we were gonna be side by side with active duty, and they trained all day everyday for the past couple months for this competition,” Croslin said.

Croslin said at least half the credit goes to his wife, Trisha. The couple lives in Tuttle with their three young children, Adlee, Carter and Natalie.
