A man died after being shot by his wife overnight Saturday, according to Tulsa Police. Captain Laurel Ledbetter said a woman called 911 at about 2:15 a.m. from the Melrose Apartments near 9th and Sheridan to say she had shot her husband inside their apartment.

EMSA paramedics found the husband shot in the stomach and administered CPR, but he died of his wounds, police say.

"There is a history of domestic abuse in the relationship, and a protective order was in place; however the couple were living together at the time of the shooting," Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said in a news release.

"The investigation reveals that the couple had argued the night before, and the wife grabbed a gun and wanted the husband to leave. Another argument ensued and the wife fired the gun one time hitting the husband in the stomach."

The 63-year-old woman was taken in for questioning. She was being cooperative, according to police, and has since been released.

Walker has not released the names of the man or woman but said the husband was 61 years old.

The shooting is still under investigation, Walker said. It is Tulsa's eighth homicide of 2015.
