Ice on Tulsa area roads are causing all kinds of problems for drivers Tuesday morning.

Tulsa Police as well as police in Owasso and elsewhere have worked several crashes because of the icy roads and bridges.

Early Tuesday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was sent to a crash after a driver lost control on ice, hit a wall on I-44 just east of Lewis.

Owasso Police say several cars headed north on Highway 169 at 96th Street North spun out on ice and went off into the median. While a tow truck was at the scene, police said another northbound car slid into the tow truck. Neither the driver of the car or the tow truck were injured.

Police said that crash has also slowed southbound traffic at Highway 169.

Meanwhile, Tulsa Police said a number of streets on the west side of town and near downtown, like the IDL are still covered in ice and traffic was moving slowly.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has had trucks out overnight and they say they will continue to apply sand and salt to slick spots until roads are clear and dry.
