Northeast Oklahoma Under Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service canceled the Winter Storm Warning for most of northeast Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service canceled the Winter Storm Warning for most of northeast Oklahoma late Saturday afternoon.

The warning has been replaced for a winter weather advisory for the following counties:

Cherokee, Adair, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Wagoner,. Rogers, Mayes, Pawnee, Ottawa, Pushmataha, Choctaw, Washington, Osage, Craig, Nowata, Pittsburg, Sequoyah, McIntosh, Muskogee, LeFlore, Latimer & Haskell counties in Oklahoma and Washington, Madison, Crawford, Sebastian and Franklin counties in Arkansas.

The advisory is for light snow, freezing rain and freezing drizzle and is in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation warned that travel conditions would continue to deteriorate throughout the day, as overnight and early morning snowfall already covered many highways and interstates.

Untreated roads will be slick, and drivers are encouraged to stay home if possible. Northeastern Oklahoma is under a travel advisory through midnight.

Through Friday afternoon, snow fell all over the Tulsa metro, with more significant amounts in Pawnee and Osage counties. About 2 inches fell in areas there in a few hours.

Most parts of northeast Oklahoma received about two inches of snow on Saturday. Some areas received significantly higher amounts.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reports crews are continuing to treat roads.
