WX UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for parts of Oklahoma, including Oklahoma County.
The strongest storms will be capable of producing hail up to the size of tennis balls (golf balls more common,) and winds to 75 mph. As we have said all week, the tornado threat is low but not completely zero today.
Oklahoma City metro timeline hasn't changed, storms are moving in between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Today we will see highs near 80 degrees for most of the state.
Brisk southwest winds 10-20 mph will be with us most of the day until a strong cold front moves in . When the front does move in, storms will go up quickly and some will go severe with strong gusty winds, hail larger than quarters and even a slight chance for tornadoes.
Some rainfall totals could present an isolated flood threat as well. The central area of Oklahoma will see thunderstorms starting as early as 3 p.m. So stay weather aware and tuned to News 9 and News9.com for the latest weather updates.
After the cold front comes through your area, strong north winds 20-40 mph will follow. By 10 p.m. most of the severe weather will be out of our area.
