Rescuers have suspended the search for a missing toddler who was swept from her father's arms in heavy floodwaters at a creek in Ardmore on Wednesday.
According to local newspaper The Ardmoreite, rescuers with OHP and the Ardmore Police Department attempted to conduct a water rescue at Hickory Creek, near Myall Road, in Ardmore Wednesday night.
The rescue was called off due to the weather conditions and is set to resume at 7 a.m. Thursday. Unfortunately the girl had not yet been located and now rescue crews fear the worst.
According to police, first responders were called out after the toddler and her father somehow were swept away in the creek. Details on how the pair ended up in the creek have not yet been released. The father grabbed on to a tree in an attempt to keep from being washed further down the creek, but the strong current washed the girl out of his grasp.
The father and daughter have not yet been identified.
