Authorities Identify Suspect Shot, Killed By Off-Duty MWC Officer

Authorities have identified the burglary suspect who was shot and killed by an off-duty Midwest City police officer on Monday.

Police say 54-year-old Stephen Ray Brown was killed by the officer at a home near SE 15^th St. and Choctaw Rd. on Monday night.

The officer is reported to have been watching over the home for family members, who were on vacation, when he happened in on the burglary-in-progress. The officer said he thought Brown was holding a gun before he fired his weapon. Brown died at the scene.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s office identified Brown Wednesday, and reported that Brown had a lengthy criminal history out of Missouri.

The case remains under investigation.
