A ‘dislike’ button might be on its way to Facebook.
The creator of the social media giant, Mark Zuckerberg, remarked on the possibility of a little thumbs down icon at an online “town hall” at the Facebook headquarters on Tuesday.
“It’s important to give people more options that just ‘like’ to help express empathy and sympathy,” Zuckerberg said. “Not every moment is a good moment.”
Facebook has continually set aside discussions for a dislike button in the past, citing a desire to avoid “down voting” content, like users can do on Reddit. They also did not wish to discourage users from sharing content, even content that the user considers to be “bad”.
That attitude appears to be changing however, after the remarks Zukerberg made on Tuesday; although company spokespersons would not offer further comment on the matter.
