Concern over comments made by Moore High School’s football coach earlier this week about an upcoming opponent’s quarterback, has raised the eyebrows of some.
Earlier this week, Moore Head Coach Paul Hix told a reporter, “We’re not looking to bring him to the ground. We’re looking to hit him and rattle him.”
Moore’s opponent Friday is Southmoore, and their QB is sophomore Casey Thompson. His father is OU 1980’s QB Legend Charles Thompson. Dad declined an interview request by News 9 Thursday, but said he is not angry with Moore’s coach.
“I’m giving the coach the benefit of the doubt. Let’s just play the game, and respect the integrity of the game,” said Charles Thompson.
The school district is not saying whether or not Coach Hix will be disciplined.
“We’re not going to promote violence against one another at this point,” District Spokesman Dustin Horskoetter said. “We’re just looking forward to a good game tomorrow night between Moore and Southmoore.”
