A powerful storm system over the southwest U.S. is headed our way. There is a strong jet stream wind aloft and this may play a role in keeping our severe weather potential down on Thursday.
This evening we stay cloudy and quiet with temperatures only dropping into the low 60s. Showers and storms will develop out west and move east overnight into Thursday morning.
Chances for storms look more likely between 6 AM and noon for the metro. There is a low threat that these storms produce damaging wind and hail. A gusty south wind will help to warm temperatures into the low 70s.
A second wave of storms may redevelop late in the afternoon and evening east of the metro.
