AARP Offering Smart Drivers Course For Seniors

More Americans are driving now than ever before. That includes a growing number of seniors.

When you think of students in driving classes, you probably think of teenagers. But a growing number of senior citizens are getting refreshed.

AARP offers a smart driver course. It allows older adults to brush up on their driving skills in a safe environment. The group says classes are in high demand.

The reason why? There are an estimated 38 Million seniors on U.S. roadways and that number is expected to increase.

The U.S. Department of Transportation says it's already anticipating the increase. It plans to start installing signs with larger, easier to read font. And also, more warnings of upcoming intersections or stop signs, giving seniors more time to react.

The U.S. Department of Transportation predicts the number of senior drivers will grow to 55 Million by 2020.
