What makes Oklahoma special? We think it’s got to be the people. And we meet some amazing people in our stories. Here’s another example.
UNSUNG HEROES.
Not long after fighting in World War II, Sylvester Franklin began teaching in the town of Haskell. For 65 years he helped educate the children of his community. He inspired kids to reach for a brighter future. He helped them to know they were valued. Mr. Franklin retired from teaching full-time recently - at the age of 90. He didn’t get rich and he won’t receive a medal, but his quiet dedication is worth celebrating.
