Firefighters Battle Fire In Deer Creek Area

Firefighters are battling a fire in the Deer Creek area.

The fire was reported shortly after 3:35 p.m. Wednesday near NW 178 Street and Meridian Avenue.

At least two vehicles were involved in a crash before the fire sparked.

About 11,000 OG&E customers were without power in Edmond and north Oklahoma City due to the accident. OG&E was able to restore power shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Outage in Edmond now up to 11,000 due to car accident at 178th & Meridian. Still no restoration time yet. Crews are working on the issue.

Edmond Electric also reported about 5,400 customers without power. They said the accident caused damage to the feeder line to Edmond Electric's substations from OG&E.

Firefighters from Oklahoma City, Deer Creek, Oak Cliff and Piedmont are responding to the fire.
