Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Archie Bradley had a nice spring debut against the Colorado Rockies.

The Broken Arrow graduate pitched two shutout innings and retired two batters by strikeout, leading his team to a 6-3 win in their Cactus League opener.

Last season, in his fourth start at home against the Rockies, Bradley took a line drive to the face from outfielder Carlos Gonzalez (in the second inning). The league estimated the ball was traveling at 115 miles per hour when it left Gonzalez's bat, but luckily for Bradley he escaped the scary moment with just a sinus fracture and was back on the mound 18 days later.

Before the incident, Bradley started his career with a 2-0 record and 1.45 ERA. He was also the first pitcher to take down the reigning Cy Young Winner and World Series MVP in his first pair of starts.

He wrapped 2015 with a 5.80 ERA in eight starts.

The 2011 first round pick was in Oklahoma Jan. 15 to attend the Broken Arrow Baseball Wildlife Festival. While there, he told News On 6 Sports about the Diamondbacks busy offseason.

“For me, it's exciting,” he said. “I think as long as I perform and pitch the way I know how then things are going to take care of themselves. So, whoever is going to help the team the most is going to win those jobs. So, I'm doing everything I can to be prepared for day one."

From the looks of his first outing, he's on the fast track to being dominant in 2016.
